Whales Ahoy

Southern Right Whales are nursing calves along much of Australia’s south coast at the moment. As we crossed the Nullarbor we stopped at the Head of Bight and despite the cold wind, enjoyed seeing many whales and their babies. An amazing sight to see so many so close the coast.

Then on to Penong and down to Cactus Beach. What a great spot. Today we were spoilt while overlooking Point Sinclair (on the leeward side of Cactus) with the sight of a single female and her very young calf. They made their way along the coast and right into the bay, perhaps only 100m from the end of the jetty as we watched from the cliff top.
